April Staff Spotlight

Mrs. Wendy Calcutt

1. What do you like most about working at Johnsonville High School?

The students are what I like best about working at JHS. I enjoy seeing them come in and out of the library, and I especially like talking with them about what they are reading.

 2. What jobs have you had before this one?

I have been a media specialist for 24 years, and I have worked at the middle school and elementary school levels as a media specialist. Other than being a media specialist, I have also taught 5th grade and special education.

3. What is your favorite movie?

The Notebook

4. What is your favorite book?

It is hard to choose just one. My favorite series so far this year has been the Angels Walking series by Karen Kingsbury and my favorite biography is Walk to Beautiful, the story of country music singer, Jimmy Wayne. All teachers should read his story because he talks about living in Johnsonville as a child and refers to different teachers who made a difference throughout his life.

5. What is your favorite food?

My mom’s lemon meringue pie

6. Who is your hero?

Everyone in my family including my husband, children, and my mom are my heroes because they are always supportive and encouraging.

7. Family info:

I am married to Al Calcutt, and we have three children, Wynn, Gavin, and Ashlyn.

8. How long have you worked here?

I have worked at JHS for a total of 13 years.
