Mr. Walter Clark

Teacher of the Month

Name: Walter Clark

1.       What do you feel is the most rewarding part of teaching?

I feel that the most rewarding part of teaching is when a student enters my classroom with no confidence in their ability to do math or even pass a test, and they leave with a high confidence level and a plan on how to approach future math classes.

2.       How do you hope your students will remember you?

I hope my students will remember me as a teacher that was always willing to help them and pushed them to do their best every day.

3.       What are the most important qualities that a good teacher should possess? Why?

I believe that the two most important qualities that a good teacher should possess are organization and a willingness to learn. Organization is the key to being prepared every day and in having a classroom environment that is structured. A willingness to learn requires that a teacher never be satisfied and that he or she is always looking for better ways to teach a lesson.

4.       What is your favorite experience from your teaching career?

One of my favorite experiences from my teaching career was having the opportunity to help create a magnet program at my former school and then getting to teach in it.

5.       What do you like most about teaching at JHS?

The thing I like most about JHS is the respect that the students show me as a teacher.

Students are always friendly and respectful whether I see them at school or around town.
