Senior Video Announcement: Seniors need to submit their toddler photos for the senior video. Seniors may email their photos to Mrs. Calcutt or bring them by the library to be scanned. 

Prom Announcement: Last Day to Purchase Tickets-TODAY (Thursday, March 12)

  • The JHS Junior/Senior prom will be Friday, April 10, 2020 at Wild Wing Plantation in Conway from 8:00 until 11:00.  Juniors and Seniors may pick up the Prom Contract and Non JHS Guest approval forms from Mrs. Fish before school, at break, at lunch, or after school until 3:20.  Everyone who attends must have a prom contract.
  • Once all forms are completed, tickets may be purchased from Mrs. Fish at break, at lunch, or after school until 3:20.
  • Tickets may be purchased through March 12 for $30 per person.  Tickets will not be sold after March 12.

Scholarship Opportunity for Future Educators: Students who plan to major in education should see Mrs. Floyd for information on the Ken Bower Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  The deadline is March 31.

Arts Scholarship Opportunity: All seniors who plan to pursue a degree in visual, literary, or performing arts or in arts education need to see Mrs. Wallace as soon as possible. There are two $1000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship available through the Betty Ann Darby and the Florence Regional Arts alliance. Please see Mrs. Wallace for details.

Guidance Announcements: 

  • The continuum will host "SafeRack Day" at The Continuum on Wednesday, March 25.  SafeRack is a company located in Andrews, SC. They are looking for welders and industrial maintenance techs.  They will be at the Continuum most of that day interacting with students and instructors.  They plan to potentially hire students for employment.  See Mr. Dicks if you are interested.
  • Upstate College Tour: Sophomores and Juniors are invited to participate in a college tour to Newberry college, USC-Upstate, and North Greenville University.  The purpose of the college tour is primarily for students to gain an understanding of different types of colleges and environments that are available.  The college tour is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2020.   

  • Attention current freshmen and sophomores. The application for the Junior Leadership Florence County Program is now posted on the guidance web page. Be sure to check it out on the guidance web page or go to The deadline to apply is March 15.
  • The McLeod Regional Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary has established a Health Education Assistance Fund for a limited number of students.  Any resident of the Pee Dee region of South Carolina planning to study for a health related career at an accredited school is eligible for financial assistance from this fund.  The amount of assistance is $750.00 per semester with a maximum of (8) semesters.  To qualify, the student must have at least:3.5 GPA or above; 800 or above on the SAT; 21 or above on their ACT. A student who is interested should secure an application from the Volunteer Services office at the following address or call (843) 777-2082: McLeod Regional Medical Center, Volunteer Services Department, Scholarship Committee, P. O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502-0051. Completion of the scholarship application form, submission of a transcript and recommendations are required.  A personal interview will be required. The deadline for submitting the application is June 5, 2020

  • The Volunteer Services Department of McLeod Regional Medical Center is a major support to our staff, patients, and families.  Their volunteers are always willing to go the extra mile in giving that excellent service that is a high standard at McLeod Health.  It is that time of year when McLeod’s begins their Junior Volunteer program which is geared for ages 13-17.  Students become a part of the program in assisting and serving alongside a variety of healthcare professionals.  Application packets may be picked up from Ms. Washington in the guidance office.  Positions are limited. To be considered, applications must be turned in to the Volunteer Services office by April 1, 2020.

Community Announcement:
On Saturday, March 28th, there will be a “Repack the Back Pack” community event sponsored by Healthy Blue of Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The event will be held in the JHS gym from 11 am until 2 pm. The first 500 students will receive free back packs. School supplies and refreshments will also be available while supplies last. There is no cost to attend.
