Instruction/Strategies:

                 Teacher will write the   objective(s) on the overhead and introduce the lesson to students.

 

Engage:   Teacher will engage students by introducing   them the basic functions of Word and PowerPoint.

 

Explore: Students   will explore by creating a flyer titled All About Me and PowerPoint Presentation reviewing   classroom rules.

Specific Objective(s): The student will be able to define multimedia   and terms related to multimedia.

 

Essential Question(s):

·           Why is multimedia important?

·           What is multimedia?

·           Name the elements of multimedia?

 

Instruction/Strategies:

Teacher will write the   objective(s) on the overhead and introduce the lesson to students in PowerPoint Presentation.

 

Engage:   Teacher will engage students by introducing   them to the Glencoe Intro to Multimedia   textbook. Teacher will present the types of multimedia elements in video.

 

Explore:   Students will explore by working through the   Chapter 1.1 workbooks as a group (teacher   led).

 

Explain:

Teacher will explain/review/summarize:

1.              Elements and benefits of multimedia

2.              Teachers will review important terminology.

 

Activities: Students   will extend/elaborate by getting with an elbow partner and deciding what type   of multimedia do you find the most interesting and why? Give examples of   multimedia presentation and present information to class.

 

Conclusion/Evaluate: Exit   slip: Type one paragraph (5 sentences or more) about what ways multimedia is   a part of your life each day and how this will be part of your future.

 

Assessment: Exit slip printed or emailed to teacher.

 

Homework: Review   lesson material for quiz.

·           Identify ways to make   content accessible?

·           Name the elements of multimedia?

·           What are the benefits of   multimedia?

 

Instruction/Strategies:

Teacher will write the   objective(s) on the overhead and introduce the lesson to students in PowerPoint Presentation.

 

Engage:   Teacher will engage students by discussing   how multimedia are part of everyday life.

 

Explore:   Students will explore by working through the   Chapter 1.1 workbooks as a group (teacher   led).

Teacher will explain/review/summarize:

3.              Things to consider when   presenting info

4.              Why/How to make information   accessible and usable to the audience

5.              Elements and benefits of multimedia

 

Activities: Small Group Activity- groups will describe   how multimedia elements can be used to advertise a product such as athletic   shoes. Use each of the five elements of multimedia and discuss its   importance. Students will complete Go Online about History of Multimedia in   workbook. Students will find a Web site that incorporates several multimedia   elements. Students will need to provide the site’s URL and write a paragraph   identifying the site’s elements and analyzing the roles served by the   elements.

 

 

Conclusion/Evaluate: Teacher will evaluate students’ understanding by   asking students to think about a multimedia presentation you might create   about a particular hobby or sport. Students will need to create a table in   Word or Excel that list the multimedia elements your presentation would   incorporate. The left column should list the each element’s types such as   Audio, Graphics, etc. and the right column should list its purpose

Homework: Review   lesson material for test on   Wednesday.

1.              List the six multimedia   project formats

2.              Describe common uses of   each type of multimedia project format.

3.              Summarize guidelines for   choosing a multimedia format.

 

Essential Question(s): What are some examples of multimedia print   publications? What multimedia components are technically used in video games?

 

Instruction/Strategies:

Teacher will write the   objective(s) on the overhead and introduce the lesson to students.

 

Engage: Teacher   will present Chapter 1 PowerPoint/Section 1.2 for review and introduce   students to the Glencoe Intro to Multimedia   website.

 

Explore: Students   will explore Section 1.2 and 1.2 Vocabulary Words/Create Vocabulary Foldable.   Whole class reading Section 1.2 and real life discussion of content   vocabulary. As we read, use a tree diagram graphic organizer identifying six   multimedia project formulas in workbooks. Students   will extend/elaborate material by completing the AFTER YOU READ activities, and the GO   ONLINE activity for 1.2.

 

Explain:   Teacher will explain/review/summarize the   following items: (1) Things to consider when presenting info. (2)Why/How to   make information accessible and usable to the audience.

(3)  Elements and benefits of multimedia.

 

Activities: Small group activity- Students   will be placed in six groups and students will be given a folder on   multimedia project format. Students will need to write one of the following   definition from book, explain the importance of that multimedia project, and   research an example and then we will present to class.

 

Conclusion/Evaluate: Students will need to list and define   multimedia elements and multimedia project formats with examples. Review with   students for test.

 

Materials/Resources: Individual Student Computers, textbooks,   Glencoe Student Center online, Glencoe worksheets, and PowerPoint

 

Assessment: Exit slip

 

Homework:   Study presented material for test.
